Broken Relationships

Parenting young adult children is especially hard. I want so desperately to fix your problems. It is difficult to step aside and let God lead you and guide you. Ryanne and her best friend have had a falling out. When Ry reached out to try and work things out, but she refused. My heart hurts for Ryanne. Admittedly I needed a moment (overnight to collect myself I was pretty mad) but in the end I wanted to help Ryanne move forward in a way that would bring her healing and glorify God in the process.  Here is what I shared with her.

I am not sure what all happened with you and __________. But what do you do now?

First, I would pray and ask the Lord to show you if there is anything you need to ask forgiveness for? Even if she doesn’t forgive you, your healing will come easier if you have done all you can do to make things right.

The Bible tells us, In as much is up to your live peaceably with all men. You will then have obeyed this command and rest in knowing He is pleased with you.

The world would tell you to  – write an angry letter and tear it up, shop, eat, cut your hair, rant to a friend, use positive thinking, and give it time… but what does the Bible say?

Psalms 147:3 tell us that Jesus heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Even those caused by a best friend. Psalms 41: 9  says, Even my own familiar friend in whom I trusted, who ate my bread has lifted up his heel against me. 12. As for me, You uphold me in my integrity and set me before Your face forever. Jesus sees and knows all the details.

I Peter 5:7 says to Cast your cares upon Him, for He cares for you.

He understands, Judas betrayed Him and Peter denied Him. One relationship was restore the other was not. He gets it. Remember that although you may feel rejected, you have been accepted by Jesus and your status with Him will never change!

What you do with your hurt is what matters now.  How can you heal and glorify God in the process?

Forget about the past (the should haves and would haves) and move forward (in His love and what He has for you now) Philippians 3:13

Be kind, tenderhearted and forgive even if she refused to do the same. Do it for Jesus because it brings Him glory.  Ephesians 4:32

Let God be your comfort 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Take control of your thoughts

Have the same mind as Christ Philippians 2:5

Think about things that are true, noble, just, pure, love etc. Phil. 4:8

Set you mind on things above Colossians 3:2

One day at a time, praying for guidance and reading the Word and He will bind up the hurting places.

XOXO,

Mom
